There’s more to the main U.C. campus than libraries and lecture halls! Join Bears for Birds, the Cal birding club, to find and learn about some of the birds that make Cal their home. We’ll focus on the Eucalyptus Grove/Grinnell Natural Area, then follow Strawberry Creek up to Faculty Glade and return by way of the Campanile. Species we hope to find include chickadees, warblers, sparrows, towhees, creepers and perhaps Hermit Thrush. Beginners are warmly welcome.
Bring binoculars if you have them. If not, we will have some pairs to share. This moderately accessible trip is about a mile and a half of walking on paved ground with no stairs, with some inclines.
This 1.5 mile loop walk is on wide, mostly paved paths. Total elevation gain is 135 ft. and slopes are no greater than 8% (an ADA compliant ramp) with one possible exception. Testers using motorized wheelchairs easily managed the route.
Time: Four sessions: 8:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm.
Directions: Meet at the table outside MVZ.
Leader: Bears for Birds, TBD
